JARC Emergency Operations

Our club, working through the Metro-Jackson Amateur Radio Emergency Service (MJARES), assists the American Red Cross – Central Mississippi Chapter with emergency communications during large and small disasters. The club radio station is located in the Red Cross building in Jackson.

In addition, our club is working with the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency to provide amateur radio backup support for communication operations through out the state of Mississippi by forming a RACES group. An amateur radio station has been set up in MEMA headquarters and in the MEMA Mobile Operations Center.

Our mission during a time of disaster and emergency operations is to provide communications to our served agencies. Radio communications, to be effective must rely on trained radio operators. Below are links to the three Emergency Communications Courses sponsored by ARRL.
