VE Test and Class Schedules



The JARC Volunteer Examiner (VE) team is affiliated with the ARRL VEC and conducts exam sessions seven times a year.


Exams are given the first Sunday of each even numbered month with the exception of the February exam session which is given at the Capital City Hamfest and one session that is given at Field Day.

Because we have limited access to copying equipment candidates are requested to furnish two copies of their license and/or CSCEs.


Except for the Hamfest and Field Day sessions, candidates should arrive by 1:30 p.m. at the American Red Cross Building, 875 Riverside Drive, Jackson (map below). The Field Day test session will be held at the Club's Field Day Site. Candidates are requested to bring the original and a copy of their current license (if any), the original and a copy of any Certificates of Successful Completion of Examination (CSCEs) they hold, and a government-issued photo ID. Candidates will also be asked to provide their taxpayer ID number (Social Security number or FCC License ID number). The 2012 cost is $15.00 per test.


Candidates that may require special testing techniques or materials are requested to notify the team in advance to ensure that sufficient personnel and/or materials will be on hand to conduct the test. Contact the VE Team Leader for infomation


The JARC VE Team also offers testing for the ARRL Emergency Communications Course Levels I, II, and III. Examinations are usually held in conjunction with the February, June and October VE sessions in a separate room at the American Red Cross. Candidates must pre-register for these sessions and submit their homework assignments under the current ARRL guidelines. Exam fees are $10.00 per level.
