Field Day
Field Day is held the 4th weekend of June each year. It is a weekend where hams through out the United States and Canada set up their equipment and operate under simulated emergency conditions for a 24 hour period using contest style operations. This is an Annual ARRL Operating Event.
The JARC Field Day operation is oriented toward being a fun event for club members and their families, giving local government officials and news media insight into our emergency operations capability, and to give new hams and prospective hams a chance to operate under the watchful eye of experienced hams. The club's VE team also conducts a VE Exam session Saturday afternoon thereby giving prospective hams a chance to pass an exam for their first license or for those that already have a license a chance to upgrade their existing license.
This years Field Day Operations will once again be held at the Old Trace Park on the Reservoir. A map is provided below for those needing directions. Setup will begin around 8:00 AM Saturday morning. On air activities commence at 1:00 PM and continue for 24 hours. An evening meal and fellowship will be provided Saturday evening. At 1:00 PM Sunday radio operations cease and station tear down and cleanup begin. The June JARC meeting will be devoted to a discussion of the final planning. We still need operators, volunteers, VEs, and station accessories for this year's operation. If you have fans, laptops, meters, etc. and would like loan them or your services for the JARC Field Day activites please contact Thomas Gandy at n5wdg@bellsouth.net
