VE Testing

jarcNOTE: Due to the current COVID situation JARC has no scheduled VE Testing dates since we have lost our testing location at the Red Cross in Flowood.  

There may be exceptions if we have interested candidates.  Please contact the VE Team Leader for more information and possible testing dates and locations.


The JARC Volunteer Examiner (VE) team is affiliated with the ARRL VEC and conducts exam sessions six times a year. 

Exams are given the first Sunday of each even numbered month except for February and June. Exception are exams that are given at the Capital City Hamfest and Field Day.

BECAUSE WE HAVE LIMITED ACCESS TO COPYING EQUIPMENT CANDIDATES ARE REQUESTED TO FURNISH TWO COPIES OF THEIR LICENSE AND/OR CSCES.

Candidates are requested to bring:

      • the original and a copy of their current license (if any),
      • the original and a copy of any Certificates of Successful Completion of Examination (CSCEs) they hold and,
      • a government-issued photo ID.
      • Candidates will also be asked to provide their taxpayer ID number (Social Security number or FCC License ID number).

The cost is $15.00 per test. Payable by check or cash.

Candidates that may require special testing techniques or materials are requested to notify the team in advance to ensure that enough personnel and/or materials will be on hand to conduct the test. Contact the VE Team Leader for information.

ARRL VE Testing Sessions are held at the American Red Cross Building in Flowood. All hams and interested individuals are invited to take all levels of Ham Radio License Tests.
